Meet Dr. Young

Dr. Young, originally from western North Carolina, graduated from Davidson College (B.S., cum laude) and Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University (M.D.). After completing his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Critical Care, he primarily practiced in ICUs, hospital wards, and Internal Medicine Clinics. Mid-career, he transitioned to geriatrics and palliative care, which broadened his understanding of the impact of chronic illnesses. He felt privileged to care for patients in their living environments, whether in long-term care facilities or their private homes.

Over his thirty-five-year (35) medical career, Dr. Young has gained extensive experience with a wide range of illnesses and the complexities of the medical system. In every setting, his guiding principle has been to provide unwavering allegiance and support to his patients and their families.

As a healthcare advocate, he continues to uphold this principle, drawing on his vast experience as a physician. He maintains certifications in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and keeps up-to-date with medical literature. Additionally, he teaches part-time at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and serves as an adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Young resides in Chapel Hill, N.C., with his wife, an elementary school teacher. They have two adult children. In their leisure time, they enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, and racquet sports, with a particular fondness for being outdoors.
